IMPORTANT NOTE

There are currently TWO seats open for the Elmbrook School Board in the Spring Election of 2025.

One seat is for a candidate from Area II, One seat is for a candidate from Brookfield At Large.

ALL Brookfield and Elm Grove residents will vote to fill BOTH seats, regardless of the area they live in.

Why I’m Running for School Board

  1. The Students. Every child in our community deserves the same high-quality education I was fortunate to receive as a student in the Elmbrook Schools. For as long as I can remember, Elmbrook has been synonymous with excellence, and I’m committed to ensuring that tradition continues.

  2. Our Educators. Teachers serve as the backbone of our district. With teachers increasingly leaving the profession and the pipeline of new teachers decreasing nationally, we must continue to foster a supportive environment that attracts and retains the best teachers for Elmbrook.

  3. Your Voice. Parent, Student, or Community Member, your voice matters. The board, our administrators and the district work for the Elmbrook community. Your feedback and input should be genuinely sought. Our board should gather a variety of community perspectives, and treat community members with respect. While all board members bring their own expertise and values, we must raise up community opinions to ensure that all voices are heard.

What I Will Bring to the Board

As a lawyer:

A detailed approach to complex topics, and the ability to advocate positions, communicate effectively, and respect other perspectives.

As a resident of Elmbrook for over 20 years:

An understanding and commitment to our community’s shared values of academic excellence and fiscal responsibility.

As a parent of three future Elmbrook students:

A vested interest in the long-term success of our schools and students.

About Me

Hi, I’m Wes Sylla, and I’m proud to call the Elmbrook community my lifelong home. I’ve been a resident of the district for over 20 years, attending Dixon Elementary and Pilgrim Park Middle School before graduating from Brookfield East in 2007. During high school, I was an active student-athlete, participating in football, basketball, track, and baseball, where I served as team captain my senior year.

After high school, I earned my B.A. from the University of Minnesota in 2010 and my J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2014. My professional journey began as a Groundskeeper for the Elmbrook School District, followed by practicing healthcare law at Hall Render. I now serve as a Compliance Director at Ascension.

In 2021, my wife, Jordan, and I moved back to Brookfield to raise our family. We are blessed with three young children: Jasper (4), Dexter (2), and Zoë (9 months). I’m excited to give back to the community that has given me so much and work together to ensure the success and well-being of our students.
